About the Program
Details about the Outpatient Programming at Rio Vista Behavioral Health in El Paso, TX
The outpatient programming at Rio Vista Behavioral Health provides comprehensive, personalized care for adolescents ages 11-17 and adults age 18 and older whose lives have been disrupted by mental health concerns and chemical dependency.
There are two outpatient options at Rio Vista Behavioral Health, both of which share some similarities. Both are stand-alone programs that do not require a patient to have completed a more intensive level of care prior to stepping down to this level. In each case, potential patients will need to come in for an assessment to determine which level of care is most appropriate.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): The partial hospitalization program at Rio Vista Behavioral Health offers a more intensive level of care than an IOP or traditional outpatient services, allowing our patients to receive therapeutic interventions during the day before returning to their home or other place of residence when therapy concludes. Our PHP is an ideal option for those who can still benefit from the structure our services provide but do not require round-the-clock monitoring.
Adolescents who participate in our PHP engage in therapeutic programming six hours a day, five days a week, while adults in the program start a half-hour later each day. Typical length of stay in the PHP is two to four weeks, though, as is the case with all our levels of care, decisions on the duration of your stay depend on your progress, needs, and goals.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): The intensive outpatient program at our facility in El Paso, Texas, offers structured therapeutic services on a less frequent basis than our PHP, allowing patients more time to work, attend school, or participate in community activities as they begin to transition back to day-to-day life. For added flexibility, the chemical dependency track of our IOP also offers an evening option, meeting Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6 – 9 p.m.
Adolescents participate in IOP services three days a week for six hours per day, for a total of 18 hours per week. Days may vary depending on each individual’s academic schedule. Adults participating in our IOP attend programming three hours per day, three days per week, for a total of nine hours. As is the case with our PHP, typical length of stay in IOP is two to four weeks, though those decisions are ultimately made on a case-by-case basis.
Features of the Outpatient Treatment Programs
What to expect from the outpatient programming at Rio Vista Behavioral Health in El Paso, Texas
Our PHP and IOP are designed to give our patients the individual level of care they need as they continue their recovery journeys. With two programming tracks featuring varying levels of structure, each patient has the flexibility to maintain their day-to-day life outside of our facility in El Paso, Texas.
Based on a variety of individual factors, your personalized care plan in our outpatient programs may include:
- Basic medical care
- Medication management services
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Family therapy
Group therapy forms the foundation of Rio Vista Behavioral Health’s outpatient programming at both the PHP and IOP levels. Patients participate in a variety of psychotherapy groups, led by our experienced, licensed therapists or registered nurses, during each treatment day. These sessions give participants opportunities to address concerns, provide support, and learn from one another by way of discussion and feedback based on similar experiences.
Patients may also take part in individual therapy once a week, or on a case-by-case basis, and family therapy once a week or as needed.
Our team of compassionate, experienced professionals uses a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities to deliver care in both of our outpatient programs. You or your loved one may engage in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing during your time at our facility in El Paso, Texas. Those who have struggled with a substance use disorder may also experience Refuge Recovery.
All services in our outpatient programs are customized to meet each patient’s unique needs based on their medical history, strengths, and goals for recovery.
Telehealth Outpatient Treatment Programs
Learn about telehealth outpatient treatment programs at Rio Vista Behavioral Health in El Paso, TX
To enhance the flexibility of our outpatient programming, Rio Vista Behavioral Health offers telehealth options for our intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and partial hospitalization programs (PHPs). Both adolescent and adult patients who have telehealth benefits can be evaluated for virtual participation in our IOPs and PHPs, which we provide through the Zoom teleconferencing service.
Each patient who participates in telehealth services through Rio Vista Behavioral Health receives the same high-quality care experience as with the in-person support we provide. Our telehealth outpatient programming takes place in conjunction with the in-person adolescent and adult IOPs and PHPs, forming hybrid groups involving both types of participants.
Because we are integrating telehealth services into our in-person outpatient programming, these services will follow the same therapy schedules. Patients who are participating in telehealth services must download Zoom and use the meeting IDs our facility provides.
Patients must sign a form that gives Rio Vista Behavioral Health consent to provide telehealth treatment. If a patient cannot come to our facility in El Paso, Texas, to sign the appropriate form in person, they can give consent verbally with two witnesses, per guidelines outlined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
